South Africans have come together to
sensitize the country’s populations
against skin bleaching.
Hundreds of South Africans took to the
streets of Durban to march against the
practice, as thousands took the
sensitization campaign to social media.
The march was organized by the
University of KwaZulu-Natal and the
Department of Health.
The organizers are aiming to promote
“self-love” among the country’s black youths, who according to research are
at a high risk of getting into the practice
of lightening their skins in other to look beautiful as being black is regarded as a bad omen and ugly.
